Cozy place to have a coffee and a pastry. A good selection of pastries and they also have ice cream. House of James has a large selection of religious books but they also have a lot of general fiction and non-fiction. There is a great kids section with lots of games, jigsaws, and toys.

I was exploring Abbotsford today and I was so glad that my colleague recommended me to visit this bookstore plus cafe.

Originally, I came here to find some decorations for my office/ classroom. I had something in mind and I found what I wanted here, thanks to its huge selection. Surprisingly, there was a small area dedicated to teachers. Not sure if there was a permanent arrangement but it was definitely suitable for the graduation season.

My colleague also told me they had a nice cafe and it did not disappoint. First of all, the bookstore would give you a coupon for half-price coffee or tea at the coffee shop. They used my favorite tea bag and charged a reasonable price. I also ordered a panini combo, both panini and salad were delicious. I was surprised by the quality of food and drink here, so I ordered some more to go. The cornbread was exceptional.

I will definitely come back if I am in the area again!

I love this place, nice staff, friendly people, good treats, decent prices but lately, our regular visits keep getting interrupted by musicians coming to play the piano. The piano is so loud, I can no longer hold a conversation and the pianists stay so long that it becomes headache inducing. I don't mind a pianist at the Lounge when I'm having drinks but at a coffee shop, I find it very inconsiderate and disruptive.

Great book store, gift shop, and cafe but i wish they wouldn't allow people to play the piano. It's disturbing to those wanting to have a nice conversation, and sometimes goes on for over an hour. I even witnessed someone asking a piano player to stop, to no avail.

House of James has many things in its favor, great books, the coffee shop. But pastries and food need improvement. Today I ordered a quiche and date square. Quiche was too small for both the cost and as a meal. Taste was ok, crust a bit soggy. The date square could a smaller more elegant piece. It was exceedingly dry, both the topping and the dates. A change of recipe may help.

The Cafe is a pleasant atmosphere with great prices. The store has a huge selection of books for all ages, toys, puzzles, gifts, stationery, and other items. House of James is a longstanding Abbotsford business with great resources for the Christian community, and others.

Best Christian Bookstore we've seen so far. Amazing selection, store layout and ALL of the staff are so helpful and kind. Also we really love the coffee house available and the delicious bakery items. Please don't move too far! Your store is such a blessing to the community 🙂

This is a rare store than offers such a wide variety of used Christian books. Just about any category of Christian books you can think of is represented by large sections of books in a very well organized layout. And the prices are very reasonable! So much so that I could wander in this store for a long time...

Nice calm atmosphere. The store sells a lot of different things from homemade jewelry to jigsaw puzzles to t-shirts. They even have a jigsaw puzzle on the go for anyone who wants to participate. I haven't eaten here, but the restaurant section is very nicely laid out and it smells wonderful. I come here each week to pick up my organic vegetables from the grower and finally ventured inside yesterday. I'll probably come back just to look around some more.
