[Sept. 10 '24 update: a crew man returned ALL dumpsters to curb. Recycling truck man placed my bin on the curb; no tossing. ] Better in past 2 weeks. A Fairfax area manager , Robert, phoned and courteously heard my complaints. Yesterday's emptied recycling bins were placed on curb or sidewalk; dumpsters were returned to curb.

I signed up for Republic Services about 2 months ago. They delivered the bins quickly and it was pretty painless. Then they never picked up the trash or recycling.

After 3 weeks and a dozen missed pickup requests submitted on their portal, I called and was assured they would pick it up next week. They didn't.

I called again the next week. This person also assured me it would be picked up and I would get a call from the operations person and that they escalated it etc. It was never picked up, and I never got a call.

I called again the following week - 6 weeks with the trash baking in the summer sun on my curb - and cancelled my service and asked for a refund.

After almost 2 weeks following cancellation, they finally came and left a note on the trash can that they can't take the bin because it's full, and that they will charge me if it's not empty the next time they attempt to collect it. Almost comical.

I assume the only way I’m going to ever get rid of the bins and the trash in them is by renting a truck and driving the bins to the dump myself, and I’ll have to work with my bank to have any chance of getting my money refunded.

The only positive thing I can say is that the reps I talked to on the phone were nice and seemed like they genuinely want to fix the problem.

The one time I need to use their website to check the holiday pickup schedule and I get "Unfortunately, online services for this address are not available at the moment."

Edit: Contacted them as requested. They told me my pickup for Xmas had been rescheduled for the 28th. Unsurprisingly, no pickup happened that day.

—-DO NOT USE—- use what ever company is the alternate even if it’s more expensive per month.

This company is terrible, not only in the 3 months we had with them did they “accidentally” take our bins for 3 weeks, but then when we went to cancel it took 3 attempts to have them come get the bins. Now they are looking to charge extra ($300) because they didn’t get the bins back. This company is terrible at communication and are clearly not in a customer service business.

At one point a representative told us that “this is how it’s done all across the country” funny thing is, we have lived all across the country and in other countries and this is by far the worst company we have ever had for trash.

Do not use.

I realize there are few options for residential waste disposal but Republic is horrible. I have never written a google review, but their service is absolutely pathetic. They miss pickups and are not responsive when you call them. They have missed over 5 pick ups the past 6 mos and they do not come back to pick it up. Moreover, they still charge you for their "weekly service."

Not surprised by these horrible reviews. They skipped my yard waste pick up for 4 weeks and I go to cancel and there is a $33 fee to close out & get their cans! Never use them, there is American and Evergreen available....plus why is garbage and recycling pickup on different days?

I am a relatively new client of theirs. Their services have been ok so far, they always come at about the same time and do their work however, about a week ago they damaged my property. I have written to them on their site and have left my number for them to call me back a week ago and there is still no news. I would like for Republic to be more responsive to their clients, especially when they have damaged their property. I have attached some photos of where their truck collided with the curb which was made out of logs. I know that they have my phone number in their system, it would be great to hear back!

Nice folks that Ive talked to. They have some people that treat them mean and they sometimes will treat you away only bc others have been difficult. Great place, there are rules so please follow them. Busy days are Mondays and Fridays. Busy hours 11-4. I'll give this place a 8/1.10
