Here's a story that is true and a disgrace to my university:
Tried to order a transcript, denied due to a fee.
Called One Stop, was told to call the comptroller of the state
The comptroller assured me it was the university.
Called One Stop again. They said it was the university but aside from it being a 2015 charge no info
I graduated in 2004
They suggested SBS, gave me a number.
SBS told me it was 2014 but didn't know why and asked me to email SBS customer service ?
So I did, they called a day later but I was on the line and missed it.
I called right back and was told it was from 2009, $38, but they didn't know why or what department.
I was told to email SBS again and state a call back time, so I did
I didn't get the call back
I have a job offer I cant accept bc they want a transcript and I cant get a transcript bc SBS is so inept they can't tell me who I owe the money to, when it was, or why I owe it.
Literally special needs people waiting for me to start a job I cant take bc of this joke of a service.
What a disgrace.

Update:
A week later I get the call to pay the bill.
They don't know where it came from.
That's right, they can't tell me why I owe about $40, or why it came in 5-10 years post graduation.
Nope, I just owe them the $ and have to trust them.

Is this a scam?
Are we living in 1900 or 2024? How is just seeing this on the screen not possible?
Pathetic as all get out.

I try not to base reviews off of one bad experience, but I can't help giving a bad review if I have a horrible experience every single time I contact SBS. Before SBS went MIA when I attempted to contact them I was given a complete run around until finally I was connected to a nice lady who helped fix my problem (there is the nice review). But now, there is no way to contact them. They do not respond to text or email. They do not answer the phone. There is absolutely no communication with these people. I get that it's not necessarily the workers fault that the system is horrible, but come on. This is a FINANCIAL service. Most of the time the people calling are in a desperate situation and need some help! It is their job to answer questions for new and unsure students. Or even returning students who are doing their best to get an education, but need a little help. I mean sure have a texting service for those who are too phone shy to call in, but seriously, if I am calling you it's because I really need you. Good grief A&M, if you really care about your students like you say you do, don't under staff this department. Step up your game. Your students need you.

Terrible service. I waited for almost an hour to talk to a representative just for the call to go void. Evidently this is a common experience for other people. The texting feature offers little to no help because it’s just a Q&A menu. I hate having to go through the SBS for anything. I’ve tried to get help through them before but this last time was enough to make me write this. A garbage service for an otherwise relatively efficient organization.

I made the difficult decision to withdraw my application shortly before classes commenced due to some emergency situation during the enrollment, and as a result, I did not attend any in-person or online classes for a single day. I had made a complete tuition payment and requested a refund accordingly. According to their rules, the university stated that they would only refund 80% of the fees. However, when I received the refund, it amounted to only 40% of the original amount I had paid. Despite the inadequate refund, I accepted it without further contestation, believing that the matter had been resolved. I chose not to argue any further.

To my complete disbelief, more than 11 months later when I have no connection with TAMU anymore, I have started receiving letters and emails from the university demanding an additional payment. They are even threatening to involve a collection agency to recover the supposed debt and for what. I reached out to the Student Business Services (SBS), and despite not attending a single class or receiving any study materials such as books or a laptop, they insist that I must pay the money. Under these circumstances, it is highly unfair for them to demand tuition fees from me.

I never understood for what shall I pay when I have no connection with TAMU nor I use the student portal account anymore.

I’m not even sure why they have a phone system if they’re refusing to answer incoming calls from students and parents and forcing them to text them instead. How does the most important department of the university not have a phone line? It wasn’t like this my freshman through junior year here. Their job is to help people with time sensitive situations regarding their tuition and fees so they can stay here and go to school but you can’t even speak to them. Do better A&M.

I know this is a pretty busy time for them, but that doesn't excuse poor service. They're not even answering phone calls right now and decided texting would be better. I sent a text Tuesday around 10am and didn't hear back until Wednesday at 9am. I got no text saying I was in a line to be texted back or when I should expect a text back. I wasn't around my phone when they sent the text at 9am so when I finally saw it and responded back (around noon) I got a text saying they were too busy to answer my question. Texted again today and still nothing from the automated service. I'd rather be on a long phone hold because at least then I'd know someone would get to me eventually. If I had known I was in a line to be texted back, I would've been near my phone. My question was time sensitive and now I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do.

I called 8:00 am sharp as soon as the office opened and I was told they had maximum capacity of calls, for me to reach someone is rare.

As a senior I can say that Texas A&M has treated me quite fairly as an academic institution. Every since COVID happended things have been stressful on both sides. They helped me pay my tuition when I was in desperate need and the like. However, this semester of this new year seems to be a new version of them. First and foremost, for anyone planning to attend, please note that if you set up a payment plan and pay late, you will be charged $25. Well in this COVID season and in the past it happened a couple of times, but this time I was charged $100 instead. Why? Oh they don't tell you until they already charged and cannot take it off your account so you 'have' to pay it. Apparently, if you set up a payment plan late and pay late, they charge $100. I can understand it and wouldn't mind the extra $75 added, but c'mon Home of the Aggies, you could let your students know this beforehand! Not when it's too late and there's no warning of the amount being charged! It's etiquette!
