Tijdens mijn eerste bezoek aan deze mooie stad trok ik eerst naar dit gloednieuw kantoor van de toeristische dienst. De ontvangst is hier erg vriendelijk . Ik ontving een stratenplan en een interessant wegwijsplan met álle mogelijke toeristische informatie.

A very big tourist office, with plenty of (mainly) free leaflets - although the majority about the surroundings/region and other cities. In fact, after looking for quite a bit, I had to ask the lady behind the desk for a map of Turnhout: she gave me a folded map which contains a 4 km-walk through the main sites of the city, numbered and with a brief description of them, but she wasn't very talkative nor enthusiastic, and that left us underwhelmed :(. There are also some souvenirs on sale, should you be interested.

Turnhout, Grote Markt 44. Het bouwen van een zogenaamd "'t Steentje", in neo-Vlaamse renaissancestijl van 1922, gebouwd in opdracht van het gemeentebestuur naar ontwerp van stadsarchitect L. Van Ravestyn ter plaatse van het vroegere zogenaamde "Saracijnshoofd"; tot voor de oprichting van het huidige stadhuis, huisvesting voor burgerlijke stand, stadsontvanger, politie, archief, muziekschool en brandweer. Sinds 1995 is de zetel van het VVV-kantoor. Budynek "To Steentje" w stylu neoflamandzkiego renesansu zbudowany w 1922, na zlecenie rady miasta, zaprojektowany przez architekta L. Van Ravestyn. Do stworzenia obecnego ratusza, siedziba władz miejskich, policji, archiwum, szkoły muzyki i tańca. Od 1995 roku siedziba biura informacji turystycznej Toerisme & UiT Turnhout. Dom 3-osiowy o 3 kondygnacjach pod siodłowym dachem. Połączenie tradycyjnej cegły i piaskowca. Lewa brama sklepiona łukiem koszowym, prowadzi do z tyłu położonego 19-wiecznego budynku oznaczonego nr. 43.
